I had a suggestion for the SOTM Club: a bi-monthly option.  In this economy, a lot of curious people may be hesitant to spend even $50 every single month.  $50 every OTHER month, however, may be enough flexibility to convince them to take the plunge.  This may also be incentive for lighter drinkers who may only imbibe a few times a month.  In my case, I'm not especially concerned about the cost, but being an absinthe reviewer I have to sit down and score or go back and taste brands for reference many times a month anyway.  Adding two more bottles every thirty days would mean, in my particular case, drinking almost every day of the month, and taken tasting notes close to a dozen days out of the month.  That's just too much for me. Also, I was wondering if either of the packages have exclusive brands not available to purchase at the website, or if they are all selections from here at the SS store.

I hope you'll take this suggestion into consideration, I sincerely believe it will encourage more club members.

Hey Absinthe.

Good idea.  I will ping my engineers and see if we can make this an option.  Regarding the brews, whatever we have sold through the club is also sold through the store.  Nothing exclusive.....yet....

We are actually looking at bringing in a couple exclusive brews with our import lic.

Namely, a new one from this brewery that I visited last year in Kyoto:

The brew is called Rissimo.

Stay tuned :)

Marc, I really appreciate you not only taking the time to respond personally, but also the fact that you are taking the suggestion seriously, thank you.  If this could become a reality it would be wonderful.  I intend to go the whole nine yards and prepare food suitable for pairing with the Club sake I receive, so two brands every other month would be just about perfect.:)  Please post back when you receive word one way or another.

Also, I just looked up this Rissimo sake, and I must say I am also looking forward to it.

To add on to this topic, I would like to see a middle option for those, like myself, who like to compare and contrast different grades; it'd be a ginjo/daiginjo and a honjozo/junmai. To keep with your current theme of namind your SOTM choices( a Japanese caste and a "shopping" word) it could be named "Daimyo Deal"  and reasonably priced at the 74.99 mark or there abouts.

This would be a SOTM option I'd be very interested in.

And thank you for taking the time to review these suggestions and ask for feedback, It's much appreciated from a customer standpoint.

Sounds interesting, Christopher.  Do you mean trading off between gingo/daiginjo one month and honjozo/junmai the next?  That does sound like a good way to try a range of quality and styles, yes!

Also I would like to add, I can't speak for how anyone else feels about this, but I would fully be willing to sacrifice the store discount for the convenience of a bi-monthly option.

Interesting idea, but I don't think alternating ginjo/daiginjo one month and junmai/honjozo the next month will work; What if you cancel after 3 months? You would likey have only gotten 1 month of ginjo/daiginjo and 2 months of honjozo/junmai, for $225. thats $25 more than if I just did 2 months at $50 of junmai/honjozo and one month of ginjo/daiginjo at $100= $200 total.

No what I meant was since you'd be receiving 2 bottles per month, make one a ginjo or daiginjo, and the other a junmai or honjozo.

I like this idea.  1 J and 1 DG.

After we finish the latest and greatest pushes for site, I will look into this.

Currently we are working on:

1) Corporate Gift program
2) Gift packaging for holidays
3) Educational classes across US
4) Site rework
5) Then we will review sake of the month club ;)

Hang tight folks....slowly but surely getting there!

Thanks for the follow-up, Marc!  I see you have your hands full, so we will be patient.:)  Ah well, in the meantime I should be applying some of those same things to my own websites...

i would be very interested in the EO month option. I am getting ready for my Level 1 and Level 2 with MCoS and in level 2 there is tastings to nail. Adding something so different every other month would be a great break for my pallet and allow me to kindle my passion deeper for The Brew.

Also the idea of a DG / G and a J/H in one package EO month would be good too. I would be so down for that.
